The Best #27 in the NFL: Malcolm Jenkins

Malcolm Jenkins | Philadelphia Eagles | Strong Safety

Jenkins was a Saint before signing with the Eagles in 2014.

Height: 6’0″ | Weight: 204

Date of Birth: 12/20/1987 (29)

Hometown: East Orange, New Jersey

College: Ohio State

Draft: 2009, Round 1, Pick 14

Contract: 5 years, 40.5 million, through 2020

Since joining Philadelphia in 2014, Malcolm Jenkins has been one of the best strong safeties in the National Football League. A star amidst an Eagles’ secondary severely lacking in talent, Jenkins was named the best SS in the league in 2015 and followed up with another quality season last year.

Jenkins is a rare strong safety who is adept at both stopping the run and at playing the conventional cover safety role. He has 8 interceptions and 34 passes defended in the past three seasons and has tallied 261 tackles in that time.

Jenkins and fellow safety Rodney McLeod are the only guys currently keeping the Eagles’ secondary afloat. The cornerback situation in Philly is an absolute dumpster fire, but expect Jenkins to have another solid year in 2017. Expect 80 tackles, 2 picks, and 10 pass deflections this season.
