Devin McCourty has been they key player in New England’s defense since he entered the league in 2010. Originally a cornerback, McCourty was a ball hawk early in his career; he intercepted 14 passes in his first three seasons before moving to safety full-time in 2013. Since then McCourty has been the safety blanket for excellent corners Darrelle Revis, Malcolm Butler, and Logan Ryan, and has a knack for getting his hands between the ball and its intended destination.

McCourty had an great 2016, with 83 tackles (his personal best as a safety), 7 passes defended, and 1 interception. He was among the elite coverage safeties in the league in coverage and was named to his third All-Pro team and second Pro Bowl for his efforts.

In 2017, look for McCourty to continue to do his thing in support of Butler and newcomer Stephon Gilmore. Look for another 80 tackle season with close to 10 passes defended and 1 or 2 picks.
