The Best #33 in the NFL: Andrew Adams

Andrew Adams | New York Giants | Free Safety

Adams is in the second year of his three year rookie deal.

Height: 5’11″ | Weight: 205

Date of Birth: 10/28/1992 (24)

Hometown: Red Oak, Georgia

College: Connecticut

Draft: 2016, Undrafted

Contract: 3 years, $1.62 million, through 2018

Andrew Adams was a great story in 2016 as an undrafted player who turned a “next man up” situation into a full-time starting job. Adams was signed to the Giants as a UDFA in May, but was waived in September before joining the team’s practice squad. Injuries to fellow safeties Mykkele Thompson and Darian Thompson led to Adams’ promotion to the active roster in week 3, and in week 4 he made his first career start.

Adams made the most of what was supposed to be a temporary position and earned his starting job by impressing on the field. He finished the season with 46 tackles, 5 passes defended, and 1 interception in 13 starts, and all but secured his job for the 2017 season.

This year, expect Adams to take a big step forward as a member of one of the NFL’s elite secondaries. 65 tackles and 3 interceptions are likely, but higher numbers wouldn’t come as a surprise.

Honorable Mentions: E.J. Gaines, Chris Ivory
