The Best #37 in the NFL: Johnathan Cyprien

Johnathan Cyprien | Tennessee Titans | Strong Safety

Cyprien is joining TEN in 2017 after four years with JAX.

Height: 6’0″ | Weight: 223

Date of Birth: 7/29/1990 (27)

Hometown: North Miami, Florida

College: Florida International

Draft: 2013, Round 2, Pick 33

Contract: 4 years, $25 million, through 2020

Johnathan Cyprien spent his first four seasons in the NFL as a Jaguar, starting 60 games and totaling 453 tackles in that time. He improved significantly in 2016, with a career high 127 tackles and improved pass coverage.

Now with Tennessee, Cyprien joins a retooled Titans defensive backfield featuring former Patriot Logan Ryan and 2017 first round pick Adoree’ Jackson. There are still some questions as to where Cyprien will be lining up on the field. It’s likely he will stay at strong safety with Kevin Byard at free safety, however a move to FS could happen with Da’Norris Searcy filling the role of SS. The fifth year pro could also see snaps at linebacker depending on how things shape up in the preseason.

Cyprien continues to improve as a player as he gains more experience as a pro. 2017 shouldn’t be any different, and the talent surrounding him is notable. Expect Cyprien to continue to be a disruptive force against the run. He should tally 100+ tackles for the fifth straight season, and grab a couple of interceptions in the process.
