The Best #38 in the NFL: Adrian Amos

Adrian Amos | Chicago Bears | Free Safety

Amos is entering the third year of his rookie contract.

Height: 6’0″ | Weight: 214

Date of Birth: 4/29/1993 (24)

Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland

College: Penn State

Draft: 2015, Round 5, Pick 142

Contract: 4 years, $2.512 million, through 2018

Adrian Amos wasn’t drafted to be a starter right out of the gate, but injuries to an already thin Bears’ secondary placed him as the starting free safety in 2015. Since then, he has started 30 of a possible 32 games and should retain that starting spot as we head into 2017.

Amos’ play has been consistently solid in a Bears defense that finished 4th and 7th in passing yards allowed in ’15 and ’16. He has totaled 132 tackles and 7 passes defended in his first two years, but Chicago will be asking more from Amos going forward. 3-13 isn’t acceptable and playmakers need to make plays.

With the addition of safety Quintin Demps and corner Prince Amukamara the defense looks better than it has in years. This should allow Amos to be more versatile, and open up opportunities for him to go for the big play. Expect 70 tackles and a first career interception for Amos in 2017.
