The Best #41 in the NFL: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie | New York Giants | Cornerback

DRC previously played for the Cardinals, Eagles, and Broncos.

Height: 6’2″ | Weight: 205

Date of Birth: 4/7/1986 (31)

Hometown: Bradenton, Florida

College: Tennessee State

Draft: 2008, Round 1, Pick 16

Contract: 5 years, $35 million, through 2018

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been a quality cornerback for the majority of his career and continues to be an effective defender in the later stages of his career. DRC’s role has changed since joining the Giants in 2014, and was one of the league’s top slot corners last year, a role he previously struggled to play.

Rodgers-Cromartie’s best season came in 2009, with 25 passes defended and 6 interceptions as an Arizona Cardinal, however his performance in 2016 was just as impressive. With the addition of Eli Apple in the 2016 NFL Draft, DRC was moved to the slot, where he recorded 21 passes defended and tied his career best 6 interceptions. He was named a Second-team All-Pro and likely secured his spot on the roster for 2017.

Should the Giants decide to move on, Rodgers-Cromartie will no doubt bounce back with another franchise. This shouldn’t happen though, as quality slot corners are hard to come by in an era where the slot receiver dominates the game. Expect DRC to record 16+ passes defended and 4 interceptions in his 11th season.
