The Best #44 in the NFL: Vic Beasley

Vic Beasley | Atlanta Falcons | Outside Linebacker

Beasley is in his third year of his rookie contract.

Height: 6’3″ | Weight: 246

Date of Birth: 7/8/1992 (25)

Hometown: Adairsville, Georgia

College: Clemson

Draft: 2015, Round 1, Pick 8

Contract: 4 years, $14.5 million, through 2019 (club option)

Vic Beasley emerged as one of the NFL’s best pass rushers in 2016, leading the league with 15.5 sacks on the year. The #8 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft struggled as  rookie, but a move from defensive end to outside linebacker fueled a 2016 campaign that saw Beasley named a First-team All-Pro.

Beasley possesses elite explosiveness and athleticism coming off the edge that few linemen can handle. A threat to make the big play on every snap, his ability to force turnovers is among the best in the NFL. Beasley’s six forced fumbles last year were tied for the league lead with Raiders’ OLB Bruce Irvin.

Beasley should continue to improve with more time at OLB and new additions to the Falcons’ front seven in Dontari Poe and Takkarist McKinley, as well as a healthy Adrian Clayborn, should open up even more opportunities for Beasley to get to the quarterback. In 2017, expect nothing less than double digit sacks from Beasley. 16 sacks and 5 forced fumbles are obtainable numbers for the NFL’s reigning sack king.
