The Best #48 in the NFL: Vonn Bell

Vonn Bell | New Orleans Saints | Strong Safety

Bell is expected to have a larger workload in 2017.

Height: 5’11″ | Weight: 205

Date of Birth: 12/12/1994 (22)

Hometown: Chattanooga, Tennessee

College: Ohio State

Draft: 2016, Round 2, Pick 61

Contract: 4 years, $3.97 million, through 2019

Vonn Bell was highly valued by the Saints in the 2016 draft, as New Orleans traded two picks to move up and draft the Ohio State product with the 61st overall pick. He played a vital role for a depleted Saints’ defensive backfield last season, as the team utilized three safeties for much of the season. Bell performed well in his debut season, totaling 87 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in 14 starts.

Now, with the departure of veteran Jairus Byrd, Bell is slated to be New Orleans’ starting strong safety with Kenny Vaccaro likely moving to free. The Saints’ defense as a whole doesn’t look very imposing (when has it ever?), but Bell is a playmaker capable of turning the game on its head. He should be fun to watch in 2017.
