Khalil Mack is not just the best #52 in the NFL; he would make the (very) short list for the title of single best player in the league. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year is a terrifying presence on the edge, possessing the rare ability to be destructive on any down, in any situation.
Mack was the highest drafted player out of the University at Buffalo in NFL history, going fifth to the Raiders in 2014. He played linebacker in his first season, and finished third in DRoY voting, behind our Best #57 C.J. Mosley and Best #99 honorable mention Aaron Donald.
In 2015, Mack played both outside linebacker and defensive end, recording 77 tackles and 15 sacks in his sophomore season. He made NFL history as the first player to ever be named a First-team All-Pro at two positions in the same year. Last year, Mack’s sack numbers dropped to 11, but he was as disruptive as ever, and was the defensive leader of the first Raiders team to make the postseason since losing the Super Bowl in February, 2003.
In only three years, Mack has recorded 226 tackles, and 30 sacks. He’s been a Pro Bowler and First-team All-Pro in each of the last two seasons, as well as being named NFL DPoY in 2016. Look for just as spectacular play, with increased sack numbers from Mack in 2017. This guy is only getting better.
