Taylor Decker | Detroit Lions | Offensive Tackle

Hometown: Vandalia, Ohio
College: Ohio State
Draft: 2016, Round 1, Pick 16
Contract: 4 years, $10.967 million, through 2020 (club option)
Taylor Decker was a quality starter for Detroit last season, efficiently protecting Matt Stafford for all 16 games of his rookie season. Decker and Stafford were the only two Lions to play every offensive snap of the 2016 season, exactly what a team wants from the two most important positions on offense. Decker was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team after the season, and was named the Lions’ rookie of the year.
Unfortunately Decker underwent shoulder surgery on June 10th, with an estimated four to six month recovery time. At earliest, the second year left tackle will return in mid-October, and it appears the Lions are resigned to that fact, as they traded the Rams for LT Greg Robinson on June 15th.
Decker will no doubt continue to be a quality blocker in both aspects of the offense when he returns, but the question remains, how much will his loss impact the Detroit passing game in early-2017?
