The Best #70 in the NFL: Zack Martin

Zack Martin | Dallas Cowboys | Guard

DAL picked up the 5th year option on Martin’s contract in April.

Height: 6’4″ | Weight: 310

Date of Birth: 11/20/1990 (26)

Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana

College: Notre Dame

Draft: 2014, Round 1, Pick 16

Contract: 4 years, $8.967 million, through 2018 (club option)

Zack Martin joins Smith and Frederick as the elite trio of Dallas offensive linemen on our countdown. Martin was taken 16th overall in 2014, one year after the Cowboys took Frederick 31st overall. The two form the top run blocking duo in the NFL, opening up holes for their backs that just shouldn’t exist.

Martin experienced immediate success in his first season, and was the first rookie offensive lineman to be named a First-team All-Pro since CFL Hall of Famer Dick Huffman, in 1947. Martin has been named to three Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams in his first three seasons.

Martin is due for a big pay day this offseason, as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. Should they get the deal done, the Cowboys will have not only drafted three all-pro offensive linemen in four years, but managed to keep all three past their rookie deals. No matter what happens, you can bet Martin will continue to be a terrifying presence on the Cowboys’ line in 2017. At worst, I would expect a Pro Bowl caliber season.
