Morgan Moses became the Redskins’ starting right tackle in 2015 after spending his rookie year backing up Tom Compton and Tyler Polumbus. The change did Washington well, as Moses finished 2015 as a top 10 RT in the league. Last season, Moses continued to improve, and was again a top right tackle.
In the current state of the NFL, right tackle has evolved into the most important position on the offensive line, short of defending the quarterback’s blind side. With pass rushers such as J.J. Watt, Khalil Mack, and Von Miller all attacking the right side of the line, good right tackle play is invaluable.
Luckily for the Skins, Moses is one of those guys who is capable of shutting down top rushers. He only allowed 5 sacks, and 3 quarterback hits last season, and only gave up 1 sack to division opponents, a week 3 takedown by our top #90, Jason Pierre-Paul.
Moses should continue to be a fine anchor on the right side for the Redskins, and the offensive line unit looks excellent heading into 2017. Music to Kirk Cousins’ ears.
