The Best #79 in the NFL: Brandon Brooks

Brandon Brooks | Philadelphia Eagles | Guard

Brooks was a three year starter in Houston before coming to Philly.

Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 335

Date of Birth: 8/19/1988 (27)

Hometown: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

College: Miami (Ohio)

Draft: 2012, Round 3, Pick 76

Contract: 5 years, $40 million, through 2020

I know, I know, articles about offensive linemen aren’t going to turn many heads, but Brandon Brooks has been a great guard for years, and was a huge free agency acquisition for the Eagles last season. (Plus numbers 79-60 are primarily lineman numbers so get used to it.)

Brooks made an immediate impact in Philadelphia. He only gave up one sack all season, and anchored the right side of the Eagles’ line, which suffered due to the suspension of Lane Johnson for ten games, and injuries to his replacements.

Heading into 2017, the rest of the Eagles’ line is healthy, and Johnson isn’t suspended (yet), so expect more of the same from Brooks. With a young quarterback in Carson Wentz, and the addition of bruising running back LeGarrette Blount, the line needs to be excellent, and it would appear that’s what Philadelphia will get.

Awards and Accolades:

PFF #2 ranked right guard (2016)
