The Best #86 in the NFL: Jordan Reed

Jordan Reed | Washinton Redskins | Tight End

Reed was drafted by the Redskins in the 3rd round of the 2013 draft.

Height: 6’2″ | Weight: 246

Date of Birth: 7/3/1990 (26)

Hometown: New London, Connecticut

College: Florida

Draft: 2013, Round 3, Pick 85

Contract: 6 years, $48 million, through 2021

Jordan Reed continues to develop into one of the top tight ends in the NFL. His playmaking ability is elite, second only to Rob Gronkowski. However, similarly to our best #87, Reed is limited by his ability to stay on the field. The most games he’s played in a year is 14, and has never made more than 8 starts in a season.

When Reed is healthy, he is nearly impossible to cover. He boasts a catch percentage of over 75% and averages 10.5 yards per reception for his career. His best season came in 2015, when he caught 87 passes for 952 yards, and 11 touchdowns in 14 games. Reed made the Pro Bowl in 2016, despite only appearing in 12 games, a testament to how productive he can be.

In 2017, Reed will likely be the number one target for Kirk Cousins, with the departure of both Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson in free agency. If he can stay on the field, Reed is primed to have his first 1,000 yard season, and can perhaps return to double digit scores, as he did in 2015.
