The Best #87 in the NFL: Rob Gronkowski

Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Tight End

Gronk has been a Patriot since being drafted in 2010.

Height: 6’6″ | Weight: 265

Date of Birth: 5/14/1989 (28)

Hometown: Amherst, New York

College: Arizona

Draft: 2010, Round 2, Pick 42

Contract: 8 years, $55.23 million, through 2019

Since entering the league in 2010, Rob Gronkowski has been the best tight end in the NFL, and arguably the top receiving threat in the league. As good as the New England Patriots offense is, when Gronk is added to the equation they’re a completely different animal.

There’s no other way to say it, Gronk is very fragile. In his seven seasons in the league, he’s only played a full season twice, and missed at least five games in 2012, 2013, and 2016. Despite this, Gronkowki’s numbers have been insane. In those four seasons with 15+ games played, he has averaged 71 receptions, 1,043 yards, and 12 touchdowns per season. At only 28, Gronk has set several NFL records for a tight end, and continues to be a weapon of mass destruction when on the field. The only thing that limits him, is his own body.

Gronkowski has already stated that he is 100% and ready to go for the 2017 season. There’s a lot of weapons on the Patriots roster, and Brady loves to spread the ball around, but Gronk will be Gronk. Ideally, I would say you can expect 80 catches, 1,100 yards, and 10 touchdowns; but realistically, expect him to play in 12 games, and put up comparable numbers on a smaller scale due to missed time.
