The Best #92 in the NFL: Leonard Williams

Leonard Williams | New York Jets | Defensive End

Williams is in his 3rd year of his rookie contract with the Jets.

Height: 6’5″ | Weight: 302

Date of Birth: 6/20/1994 (22)

Hometown: Bakersfield, California

College: USC

Draft: 2015, Round 1, Pick 6

Contract: 4 years, $18.6 million, through 2019 (club option)

Certainly the youngest player so far on our countdown, Leonard Williams only has two years of NFL experience. Part of an extremely talented group of defensive linemen in the 2015 draft, Williams was the second taken, only after Jacksonville’s Dante Fowler Jr.

Williams was an immediate impact performer for the Jets, starting 15 games in his rookie season and tallying 3 sacks and 63 tackles in his rookie season. In 2016, he was one of the most talented young ends in the NFL, taking down the QB 7 times, forcing 2 fumbles, and totaling 68 tackles on the season.

Looking at 2017, Williams is a bright spot on an otherwise talent deficient Jets squad. The team may have trouble winning games, but Williams should continue to improve as he gains more experience at the professional level. 10 sacks and 75 tackles isn’t out of the question.
